Ronald Keijzer studeerde wiskunde en promoveerde in 2003 aan de Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam op een proefschrift rond het leren van breuken. Hij was mede-auteur van de TAL-boeken voor de bovenbouw van de basisschool, projectleider van de Grote Rekendag en van het TRaP-project over taal in de reken-wiskundeles. Hij heeft meegewerkt aan de Kennisbasis rekenen-wiskunde voor de pabo’s en gaf gaf leiding aan het actualiseren van de kennisbasis in 2017. Hij zat in het redactieteam van de kennisbasistoets rekenen-wiskunde voor de pabo.

Sinds 2009 is Ronald Keijzer werkzaam als lector rekenen-wiskunde en didactiek aan de Hogeschool IPABO. Hij is hoofdredacteur van Volgens Bartjens – Ontwikkeling en Onderzoek en geeft leiding aan de onderzoeksgroep van ELWIeR.

Ronald Keijzer started his career as primary mathematics teacher educator in 1988 and combines research and educating pre-service and in-service teachers since. Also from 1988 he is involved in the national mathematics network and for several years took a leading position in organising network activities including conferences for all mathematics teacher educators in the Netherlands.

In 1985 Ronald Keijzer received master degree in mathematics. His PhD research started much later and focussed on fraction learning and, more general, on formal mathematics in primary school. Keijzer received his PhD degree in 2003 at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Ronald Keijzer was project leader for several projects on mathematics education, including the TRaP-project on language in mathematics education, the Big Mathematics Day, an event for Dutch school showing the richness of mathematics, and Mathematics in Play, aimed at stimulating mathematics in young children’s spontaneous play.

Keijzer participated in national and international projects for learning strands for primary school, mathematics assessment in primary teacher education and teacher educator development. He is editor in chief of the journal ‘Volgens Bartjens – Ontwikkeling en Onderzoek’ (Development and Research in mathematics education).

From 2009 Ronald Keijzer is professor of applied sciences in mathematics education at IPABO University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam.
